The inside of your home is cleaned on a regular basis, but it’s your outside areas that are overlooked and only given attention to when used for entertaining.
“Outside areas need to be cleaned more often than we think,” comments Bronwyn Ragavan brand manager for Chemico. “Even though we don’t use these areas as often as we do our inside homes, dust and dirt do build up.”
Floors, outdoor furniture and braai areas are all susceptible to dirt and debris – dust, leaves and dirt are all places for pests such as rodents and insects to find shelter. This can be a health hazard and with cleaning can reduce the risk of disease transmission. The accumulation of dirt and debris can also damage outdoor furniture and other outdoor fixtures costing you money in the end.
When well-maintained, outside areas look visually appealing this create a positive impression on visitors, especially if you are looking to sell your home. Regular cleaning and maintenance can give the right impression when showing off your home.
Ragavan suggests concentrating on the following areas when cleaning outside:
· Dirty windows create the perception of a dirty home. Keeping your windows clean already lifts the appearance of your home, giving it a well-looked after appearance.
· Floors in the outdoor area often need to be swept and mopped. For pavers a sweep with a stiff brush and warm, soapy water is needed to remove all the dirt. When it comes to vinyl tiles, marley tiles and melamine floors use Jewel floor polish to give your outside area a sparkle. This triple wax floor polish adds protection and shine, while leaving your floors clean.
· Plastic and rattan outdoor furniture can fade and break when kept out in the sun for long periods of time. After use, move it into a shady spot to keep them in good condition and lasting longer.
· Rodents can be attracted to rattan furniture as they enjoy chewing on the material and even nest under. Regular movements and cleaning of the furniture will deter any rodents from setting up home. Also, a fabric cover will stop them from chewing your furniture.
· Your braai should be cleaned after every use to stop food sticking to the grills making cleaning later a tough job. Chemico Paste Cleen is a gentle, strong and effective cleaner when it comes to cleaning grime off of the braai grill. It can also be used to clean the outside of the braai as well. With its 3X extreme clean with Actibeads, Chemico Paste Cleen is a definite must when getting your braai into shape for your next braai.
If you are looking to sell your home or entertain guests over the weekends and holidays, your entertainment area needs to be well-maintained. This will leave your entertainment area ready to use at any time and give you peace of mind that your home is well presented at all times, in all places.
