Homemade Vapour Shower Cubes For Allergy Relief

Homemade Vapour Shower Cubes For Allergy Relief

We are very much still in allergy season. With everything in bloom, everyone might have the sniffles and congestion. Vapor rub shower cubes are PERFECT for battling seasonal allergies, congestion, and the runny noses that come with them. They are so easy to make, and you can whip them up in about 20 minutes. The result is a vapor rub-infused bath cube that you can place in the shower for instant relief from nasal congestion.

Here is what you will need to make your Vapor Rub Shower Cubes:

– Ice cube tray

3 tablespoons of vapor rub

– 1 cup of cornstarch

– 5 tablespoons of water

– Mixing bowl

– Blue and green food coloring (optional)

Once you have your supplies, you are ready to roll. As you can see, chances are you already have these items in your home.

Directions:

1. Place the vapor rub and cornstarch in a bowl. Start to stir.

The vapor rub will need some time to warm up before it meshes well into the corn starch. Just keep it moving and it will start to break down.

2. Add in the two tablespoons of water. Continue to mix. You want a thick paste to form. If the mixture needs more water, in a tablespoon at a time. You don’t want too much water and this is a good way to control how much you add.

3. You will now have this perfect paste that smells amazing. Go ahead and add a drop of both green and blue food coloring. Mix well. This step is optional of course and just adds to the appearance.

4. Take the paste and press it into your ice cube tray. Remember you can find a small one like we used here, or a regular-sized one if you wish for larger cubes. Pack it in well. Place in the freezer for two hours to help solidify them quickly.

Your Vapor Rub Shower Cubes will solidify and firm up making them ready for use. Just pop one out and place it on the floor of the shower before you hop in. The warm water will break it down and in no time the vapors will do their thing. When you aren’t using the cubes, you can freeze them or place them in an air-tight container. This recipe made about 2 dozen mini cubes for me or would make about 1 dozen regular-sized cubes.

***Quick note! When using your cubes, set them in a shallow dish or place them near the drain. This will keep your shower floor from getting slick.
